Food and Product Donations: We accept food and product donations between 8am and noon, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Hood River.  Please email fishwebguru@gmail.com if the donation is very large so we have folks on hand to help.  The community restaurants and food suppliers have truly helped us help others.  Thank you!

As of March 23, the FISH site in Hood River ceased Saturday hours.  During the Covid-19 outbreak, this lets us have enough time between food distribution operations to be sure we have enough time to clean shopping carts, sanitize all areas, and prepare for the next distribution of food and supplies.

Volunteers: We have plenty of volunteers at this time, and don't need additional volunteer help.  We'll let everyone know if this changes.

Daily Public Service Announcement: Dr. Chris Van Tilburg, the county Public Health Officer, provides a daily update on the situation in Hood River County.

Food banks are considered essential operations during this time.  We have food on hand to help, and are grateful to the community for all the help.

The site in Hood River will be open on Friday, April 3, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.  We're not open on Saturday.  Please help our volunteers by remaining in your car and providing them with the info needed to bring your food out to you.

HELP US STOP THE SPREAD OF COVID-19.  PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK. // AYÚDENOS A DETENER EL ESPARCIMIENTO DE COVID-19. POR FAVOR ALÓJESE EN CASA SI ESTÁ ENFERMO.

A thank you to Hood River Rotary Club and  HRVHS GirlUp Club for stepping up to help serve clients this week.  Also thanks to Full Sail Brewing and Mt Hood Meadows Ski Resort for their donations of produce they couldn't use - we appreciate getting the fresh veggies!

At FISH, we want all our clients, volunteers, and employees to be safe.  We've added a page with extensive information about COVID-19.  It also has our updated operations info.

The County of Hood River has added a website devoted to the county's Coronavirus response.

FISH FOOD BANK WELCOMES YOU

Because no one should be hungry!

The FISH Food Bank mission is to help alleviate hunger by distributing food regularly and on an emergency basis, regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation and in a friendly, instant, sympathetic, helpful, nonjudgmental and confidential manner.

Our mission is to provide 3 to 5 days of emergency food once per month or about 12 times per year to those in Hood River County and Mosier.   In addition to food supplies, we have personal hygiene supplies too.

Anyone who lives in Hood River County or Mosier needing food assistance can register at FISH. Volunteers will help you register - just bring in something to show where you live (driver's license, community ID, utility bill, etc). The food bank helps those with a household income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, OR anyone currently participating in one of these programs: SNAP (Food Stamp Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), SSI (Supplemental Security Income), or LIEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance).

If you are experiencing homelessness and do not have a permanent address but need food aid, please come by - we can help!

FISH FOOD BANK  -
WHO WE ARE

FISH began in 1969 when a group of neighbors joined together to help others in the community who needed food, clothing, or a helping hand.   Today, four sites across Hood River County provide emergency food assistance, health screening and nutritional counseling. More than 500 volunteers assist clients, stock shelves, sort donations, and keep our doors open to those in need.

We're also proud to partner with the Oregon Food Bank and the United Way. The Oregon Food Bank has multiple focuses for its 2020 efforts: a dedication to freshness by increasing the amount of produce distributed to food pantries, championing self-reliance, and advocating for public policies and programs to address the root causes of hunger.

HOW WE'RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Helping Neighbors in 2019

A huge thank you to everyone who supports FISH. In 2019 we received 171,134 lbs of donations from individuals, organizations, and community businesses!  And more than 221,600 pounds of food came from our partners at the Oregon Food Bank.

Our  Community Health workers check blood pressure, offer nutritional counseling, and direct people to pregnancy resources.

Thank you to everyone who contributed financially to FISH. Your dollars matter! Every dollar allows us to buy the food we need from the Oregon Food Bank and anything we need to fill in the gaps. In 2019, your generous monetary gifts provided 42,722 pounds of food, including bread, canned goods, cheese, eggs, milk, produce, tortillas, and turkey.

PARTNER AGENCIES,  DONORS, AND POLICIES

We're a partner with the Oregon Food Bank.  The Oregon Food Bank collects food from farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, individuals and government sources. We distribute that food through a Statewide Network of 21 Regional Food Banks and approximately 1,200 food assistance sites serving all of Oregon and Clark County, Washington.

United Way of the COLUMBIA GORGE (UWCG) is a non-profit, local agency that supports non-profit human service programs in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Klickitat and Skamania counties.
